Like a Crocus
Blooming in the Stormy Times
As we move through a stormy time here on the Oregon Coast, the shifting of seasons is upon us. Only a couple of weeks ago, we, like much of the Pacific Northwest, were encased in a sheet of ice with flurries of snowflakes. Beautiful as it was to look at, there were concerns shared by locals regarding safe travels. Schools and businesses closed, or opened late, and many appointments were cancelled or rescheduled.
These were not good days for walking. Our front porch, and the welcoming deck of the Water Wolff Healing studio were skating rinks. So, my spouse and I stayed cozy indoors with our kitties with blankets on our laps and warming beverages in hand.
Only a few days later, to my delight, I noticed the first sprigs of green sprouting forth from the thawing earth. And here, a week post-ice, we have our Crocus Family emerging as a new onslaught of stormy weather passes over us. This new Weather Family is bringing a tremendous amount of rain, winds and even a few claps of thunder. Yet, through it all, the Crocus blooms continue to raise their heads up high.
Each year, as these beauties push their way through frost and snow, ever seeking the Light of Father Sun, I am reminded of their resiliency. And then, they remind me of my own. Like a Crocus, I am called to stand with my head held high in times of storm and gale. As a Healer, a Soul Companion, and Wisdom Keeper here on the Oregon coast, I, too, am called to hold my own in times of trial and storm. The wisdom of the crocus keeps us close to Mother Earth, all the while seeking the Light that shines upon us all.
Strength, resilience and encouragement to you, my friends. May we all be a bit like the crocus. When life’s challenges come upon us, may we find the first opportunity we have to bloom and show our true colors. May we burst forth vibrantly, bringing joy to the world around us. May we remain deeply rooted in the Divine Natural World of which we humans are such a small, (and yet, by grace, an integral) part. And may we seek to know our Maker and Ancestor(s) as the colors with which we each were created have the opportunity to shine through.
You are beautiful, my friends. Like a crocus. Stand tall in these times of storm. Be who you were made to be.
Grace, Peace and Love to you in the Christ-Hearted Way,
~ AJ (they/them)
